Why I'm switching to posts instead of a newsletter

Hi, everyone!

I have made a decision about my mailing list.

Bad news: I've decided not to try to restore it.  I can't fix it without paying money to a predatory company, and I won't support that business model.

Good news: I think posting here, instead of e-mailing, will be more in keeping with my ideals, anyway.

A long time ago, I decided that I want to contribute signals to the world, not noise.  I feel like the vast majority of marketing is shouting to try to plunder uninterested people's attention.  I reject that whole paradigm.  I want to speak quietly and say things that matter so much that you return because you want to.

That matters more to me than making money, which is why you can download all my books for free here if you want to.

If you have the means to share something in return, I would greatly appreciate that.  My family has a very low income, so anything you choose to share will be noticed and truly appreciated.  Buying books in your preferred format is a good way to do that; if you have the means to give something regularly, Patreon may be an even better option, because you can read my books as I'm writing them, and perhaps read behind the scenes posts on each chapter.

On an impulsive and whimsical schedule, I will start adapting old newsletters that I think are worth preserving into posts.  That will make it easier to share them.  Eventually, I will collect them into a book that you can buy or download for free.  I never planned to write nonfiction, but since I basically have over the years . . . (grin) . . . I may as well put those thoughts into a nifty format that is easy and fun to read!
